Polar Pioneer is a small, extremely sturdy expedition ship that provides regular expedition cruises in polar waters. Polar Pioneer currently sails on expeditions to Antarctica, South Georgia and the European Arctic, including Scotland, Spitsbergen and Greenland. Built in Finland in 1985 as an ice-strengthened research vessel, she was refurbished in 2001 to provide a comfortable range of triple, twin, and suite cabin options for a maximum of 54 expeditioners .

All cabins have outside portholes plus ample storage space. The spacious bridge is always open to us and the decks are ideal for viewing. There is a combined bar/lounge/library area stocked with a good collection of polar books. The chefs are European, and the dining room is attended by Russian stewardesses.
