Day 1-2 Punta Arenas to King George Island Arrive in Punta Arenas and transfer to your downtown hotel to check in. The rest of the day is at your leisure before a group briefing about tomorrow's flight. The next day we transfer to Punta Arenas airport for our charter flight to King George Island. Please remember that we are flying to in very remote areas and flight schedules are dependent on weather, both in Punta Arenas & King George Island. Days 3-8 Antarctic Peninsula The Antarctic Peninsula's western flanks offer long days and relatively ice-free waters. We visit historic huts and Zodiac cruise through narrow straits and majestic icebergs, and if we're lucky, whale watch from the bow of the ship. A few landing points we hope to visit include Half Moon Bay, Lemaire Channel, Hydrurga Rocks and more. Expeditions onboard the Polar Pioneer will also venture into Weddell Sea if weather and ice conditions permit. We hope to visit the large Adelie and gentoo penguin colonies of Brown Bluff or Paulet Island, and fossil-rich Seymour Island. We may hike to spectacular vantage points on Beak or Devil Islands; large tabular icebergs and volcanic scenery create long lasting memories. Wherever we go, wildlife, Heroic Age relics and haunting landscapes await. Days 9-10 Drake Passage Relax and reminisce as we cross the Drake Passage, bound for South America. Our expedition team recap all the incredible things we've witnessed, or perhaps you'll find a quiet moment place to review the hundreds of photos taken. Day 11 A pre-dawn sail along the Beagle Channel and an early breakfast prepare us to dock in Ushuaia. There's time for final photos and to say our farewells before disembarking. NoteThe itineraries are at the mercy of weather conditions and not all landings are guaranteed. Our itineraries are flexible and will change voyage to voyage, allowing the best chance to make the most of surprising wildlife displays and unexpected opportunities. Kayaking Option If you’re an intermediate kayaker, are active in the outdoors and have an adventurous spirit, join us as we paddle between ice floes, brash ice and icebergs of all shapes and sizes. Quiet enough to hear a whale blow or leopard seal sing! Kayaking (including drysuit) is available to intermediate paddlers. A surcharge applies. Camping Option Real Antarctic heroes sleep on ice! There’s no better way to experience Antarctica’s stunning silence and mesmerising, often colourful night sky. Camping is our most popular optional activity, with some passengers camping for the very first time in their lives. Camping is free and organised onboard our ship, totally dependent on weather and schedule. We provide all the equipment you need.

Expedition Vessel: Polar Pioneer

Polar Pioneer is a small and sturdy expedition ship and a regular in polar waters. Built in Finland in 1985 as an ice- strengthened research vessel, she was refurbished in 2001 to provide a comfortable range of triple, twin and suite cabin options for a maximum of 54 expeditioners. Her excellent reputation for polar expedition cruising is due to her strength, maneuverability and size, allowing her to access areas where larger vessels simply can’t reach.
